Recycling

Recycling your old electricals

We are pleased to offer our customers the chance to recycle their old electrical items when purchasing a new item from us. Please speak to a member of staff for details on how to dispose of your Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

When you purchase a replacement appliance from Acland’s, you can pay an additional fee for us to collect the old appliance for recycling, minimising pollution and natural resource usage. Alternatively you can return the product being replaced to the store yourself at no charge.

The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive aims to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment being produced and to encourage everyone to reuse, recycle and recover it.

If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and human health

To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a ‘crossed-out wheelie bin' symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

For more information, please visit the WEEE pages of the Environment Agency web site https://www.gov.uk/electricalwaste-producer-supplier-responsibilities/take-back-waste-in-store
